Tymoshko told Ukrainian TV broadcasters that local police bomb technicians arrived at the conclusion after examining remnants of Kalibr missiles in Kharkiv Oblast, where one of the missiles struck a civilian industrial enterprise.
“Previously, cluster [warheads for] Iskander missiles were used, which have become commonplace in 2024,” said Tymoshko.
“In 2023 and 2022, for long-range strikes, S-300, Iskanders, or occasionally North Korean explosive warhead missiles were typically used. Now, cluster munitions are used quite often.”
The police chief also mentioned that the use of glide bombs in Kharkiv Oblast has decreased, albeit not significantly. On Aug. 26, 12 such munitions were dropped by the Russian Air Force, compared to none on Aug. 25.
Earlier on Aug. 27, Oleksandr Ruvin, director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Examinations, stated that Russia used cruise missiles with dual warheads—fragmentation-explosive and cluster—on Aug. 26.
