A Russian military train was blown up near the temporarily occupied village of Yakymivka in Melitopol district, Zaporizhzhya Oblast, during the night of May 31, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) reported on June 1.

According to the agency, the train was headed toward temporarily occupied Crimea.

“As a result of an explosion on the railway track, the train — which was carrying fuel tankers and freight cars — derailed. A key logistical artery for the Muscovites in occupied areas of Zaporizhzhya Oblast and Crimea has been disrupted,” the HUR said in a statement.

Following the blast, Russian occupation forces launched a “search and intercept” operation. Intelligence officials said National Guard patrols are sweeping through nearby settlements, with checkpoints conducting searches.

“They’re especially thorough with anyone entering or leaving,” HUR added.

Also on June 1, the partisan movement Atesh reported that Ukrainian resistance fighters carried out sabotage on the new Volnovakha–Mariupol railway line in Donetsk Oblast.
