The Ukrainian military have shot down a
Russian missile in Sumy Oblast that was flying towards the city of Poltava, the
head of Sumy regional administration, Dmytro Zhyvytskyy, said in a Telegram
post on April 7.
According to Zhyvytskyy’s message, debris from the weapon fell somewhere in the village of Lypova Dolyna.
Explosives experts have also found and defused 27 unexploded fragments of a Russian cluster air bomb near Romny, the official said.
“In Sloboda (near Konotop), a Russian high-explosive air bomb was found and neutralized; it landed in a private garden, 300 meters away from residential buildings,” Zhyvytskyy said.
On April 4, Zhyvytskyy said that Russian troops are withdrawing from Sumy Oblast, following a brutal occupation. The bodies of three civilians who had been tortured to death by Russian soldiers were found near Konotop on April 5.
