Shortly after midnight on July 2, Russia attacked the Ukrainian capital with a mix of missiles of various types and kamikaze UAVs.

Several fires were reported across the city by 2:30 a.m., with at least one apartment building in the Desnianskyi District partially collapsing.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said emergency services were working at the sites. According to the mayor, as of 2:27 a.m., at least five people were reported injured in the Shevchenkivskyi District alone.

Another municipal official, Tymur Tkachenko, said that a medical facility was damaged in the Shevchenkivskyi District.

On July 1, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russian forces were preparing a new mass strike on Ukraine. He said Kyiv had intelligence suggesting a combined missile-and-drone strike was imminent.

Shortly afterwards, gas station network WOG closed its facilities across Kyiv Oblast until next morning, citing a recent trend of enemy drones targeting retail fuel infrastructure.
