A key energy facility in Chernihiv Oblast’s Novhorod-Siverskyi district was damaged by an overnight Russian strike, regional energy company Chernihivoblenergo reported on Facebook early on Jan. 12.
The attack left several settlements without electricity. Emergency repair crews will begin restoration work as soon as it is safe to do so.
Earlier, on Jan. 11, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko said that there had not been a single day without attacks on energy facilities and other critical infrastructure over the past week. Forty-four attacks were recorded in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, and Kherson oblasts.
