Russian propaganda effectively admitted that Russian forces struck Kyiv indiscriminately, without distinguishing between military and civilian targets, Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN Andrii Melnyk said at a UN Security Council meeting on May 28.

Melnyk cited a statement by Russian propagandist Vladimir Solovyov, who said that “Russian bombs and missiles have no eyes.”

“For years, Mr. Putin has been shamelessly lying that Russian troops only strike military objectives,” the ambassador said.

“Yet now, even its own official propaganda machinery finally concedes that Russia does kill indiscriminately.”

Melnyk also criticized statements by Russia’s Foreign Ministry about strikes on so-called “decision-making centers,” noting that Lukyanivska Market was among the sites destroyed in the large-scale Russian attack on May 24.

Russia’s May 24 mass strike on Kyiv

Russian forces conducted the largest strike on Kyiv by number of locations struck on May 24. About 300 sites in Kyiv were damaged in the attack, including dozens of high-rise buildings, museums, government buildings, educational institutions, shopping malls, and Lukyanivska metro station, among others.

The attack killed three people and wounded 90.

Russia attacked Ukraine with 690 aerial targets overnight on May 24, launching 90 missiles and 600 drones, Ukraine’s Air Force reported. Kyiv was the main target of the attack.

Russian forces launched an RS-26 Rubezh (Oreshnik) intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) at Bila Tserkva in Kyiv Oblast. Kyiv Regional State Administration stated that the attack on Bila Tserkva damaged a garage cooperative and several businesses.
