In Khmelnytskyi Oblast, a Russian strike drone flew close to the nuclear power plant during a night attack on Sept. 12, according to regional administration head Serhiy Tyurin.

He stated that the Shahed drone was later shot down by air defense forces.

Tyurin noted that Russia deliberately routes its strike drones and missiles to pass over Ukraine’s nuclear facilities. “This is not the first time. It is part of Russia’s terrorist tactics,” he emphasized.

Earlier on Sept. 12, Tyurin reported that air defense forces had downed 11 Russian Shahed drones over Khmelnytskyi Oblast during the night and morning of Sept. 12. The attack caused a fire at a furniture warehouse.

Overall, Russia attacked Ukraine at night with 64 Shahed drones and Iskander-M, Kh-59/69, and Kh-22/32 missiles. Air defenses destroyed 44 drones. In Konotop, Sumy Oblast, 14 people were injured and the city’s energy infrastructure was damaged as a result of the attack.
