Russian shelling caused power outages in the Donetsk, Kirovohrad, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv oblasts, Ukraine's Energy Ministry reported on Oct. 4.
Russian shelling in Sumy Oblast damaged a substation, cutting power to households and an energy facility, and injuring six workers who were hospitalized, though power has since been restored, according to Ukraine's Ministry of Energy.
In Chernihiv Oblast, 4,817 households lost power due to substation and line damage, with partial restoration underway.
In Dnipropetrovsk, an unexploded shell was safely removed from a substation.
Ukrenergo also imposed emergency shutdowns in Sumy and Poltava to prevent overloading, while Ukraine's air defense shot down nine of 19 drones attacking critical infrastructure overnight, with no casualties reported in Kyiv.
