Russia destroys major Ukrainian pharmaceutical warehouse in Kyiv attack

“Medicines and a warehouse were destroyed. Fortunately, there were no casualties,” the company said.

The assessment of damages and consequences will be completed shortly, the company added.

The Ukrainian-Estonian joint venture Optima-Pharm is a leading supplier of pharmaceuticals and medical products. The company works with more than 500 Ukrainian and international manufacturers.

By the end of 2024, Optima-Pharm ranked among the 15 largest companies in Ukraine. This is not the first pharmaceutical company to suffer from Russian attacks on the Ukrainian capital.

On Apr. 12, a direct hit by a Russian drone completely destroyed the warehouse of the Indian company Kusum (the pharmacy warehouse of Gladpharm LTD) in Kyiv, with total damages estimated at about 1 billion hryvnias ($24.2 million).

Earlier reports stated that on the night of Thursday, Aug. 28, Russian forces attacked Kyiv with Shahed drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, including Kinzhal hypersonic weapons.

A series of powerful explosions shook the city, with damage recorded at 20 locations, up to 100 structures affected, and a multi-story residential building’s entrance destroyed in the Darnytskyi district.
