Russian missile attack on Novoplatonivka kills five civilians, injures three others

Russian troops struck the village of Novoplatonivka in Ukraine’s Kharkiv Oblast, killing five people and injuring three others, regional police said on Telegram on July 29.

The Russian military struck the village at approximately 10:38 a.m., likely using a multiple launch rocket system, Ukrainian officials said.

As a result of the attack, a local store caught fire. The exact area of the blaze is still being determined.

According to preliminary reports, five civilians were killed and three others sustained injuries of varying severity.

Police said an investigative and operational team, including explosives experts and forensic specialists, has been dispatched to the scene.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that Russian forces targeted the area as civilians gathered to receive humanitarian aid.

The agency added that Russian troops also shelled the village of Pisky-Radkivski in Kharkiv Oblast. Fires broke out at the same store and at a nearby private residential home.
