Russia attacks Sumy’s critical infrastructure, causing blackouts across city and district

They noted that the power outage is temporary, and energy workers are working to restore electricity.
According to Suspilne, the sound of an explosion was heard in Sumy at 12:52 p.m.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy confirmed that Russia attacked energy facilities in Sumy Oblast with drones.
The Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that from the morning of Sept. 3 to the morning of Sept. 4, Russian invaders carried out 133 attacks on 41 settlements in Sumy Oblast.
Most of the attacks were recorded in Sumy and Shostka districts, officials said.
As a result of the strikes, civilian infrastructure was damaged and destroyed in four communities.
On Aug. 28, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that Russia is resuming combined strikes on Ukraine’s energy sector, likely attempting to undermine Kyiv’s will to resist Russian aggression.
