Russian forces struck a Nova Poshta sorting terminal in Sumy with two drones on Tuesday morning. No employees were injured, the company said.
The attack damaged the roof and part of the terminal's equipment. Mesh containers holding parcels were also damaged.
Nova Poshta said more than 13,000 shipments with a declared value exceeding 42 million hryvnias ($1 million) were on the premises at the time of the strike. The company is currently assessing the extent of the damage and the condition of the cargo.
The company said it would compensate customers for the declared value of any shipments damaged or destroyed in the attack. Customers can track the status of their parcels through the mobile app and on the company's official website.
Earlier, Nova Poshta CEO Yevhen Tafiychuk said the Kyiv Innovation Terminal had been destroyed in a Russian missile strike on June 15 and that the company had activated backup operating procedures.
As previously reported, Nova Poshta launched the second phase of the Kyiv Innovation Terminal in February 2021. The facility was equipped with advanced parcel-sorting technology supplied by Vanderlande. According to the company, the completed terminal had the capacity to process up to 50,000 parcels per hour. Nova Poshta invested about 14 million euros in the construction and equipment of the second phase. The first phase of the Kyiv Innovation Terminal was launched in 2018.
