On Oct. 5, Russian forces carried out a large-scale attack on Odesa Oblast, striking industrial and port infrastructure as well as residential areas. Large fires broke out across Oblast.

Because of heavy smoke, radiation, chemical and biological protection specialists from the State Emergency Service in Odesa inspected the area. The regional military administration said measurements detected no hazardous substances.

On Oct. 6, Russia attacked a Marshall Islands-flagged commercial vessel carrying rapeseed oil in the Black Sea with a drone. The strike sparked a fire in the ship’s superstructure, killing one person and injuring seven others.
