Nineteen children injured in Russian attacks on Sumy Oblast

In the Sumy community, a drone attack overnight on April 4 injured:

girls aged 2, 7, 10, 11 and 15;
boys aged 2, 3, 4, 4, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 10, 11, 12, 14 and 15;
and 10 adults.

In addition, during Russian drone attacks on April 4, a 52-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were injured.

In the Popivka community, a missile strike injured a 65-year-old woman, and a 66-year-old woman was also wounded. In the Svesa community, a drone strike on a passenger car injured a 69-year-old man. A drone also hit a car in the Hlukhiv community, injuring a 25-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man.

From the morning of April 4 to the morning of April 5, 2026, Russian forces carried out more than 60 strikes on 35 settlements in Sumy Oblast.

The highest number of attacks was recorded in the Sumy and Shostka districts. Over the day, an air raid alert in Oblast lasted 23 hours and 6 minutes.

Overnight on April 4, Russian forces launched a series of strikes on Sumy. Strike drones hit a 16-story residential building and a private housing area. As a result of the night attack, the number of injured rose to 13, the Sumy City Council reported.

Officials said residents of the burning high-rise building were promptly evacuated.
