Russian Su-30 jet crashes in Karelia, killing crew

A Su-30 fighter jet crashed in Russia’s Karelia, killing both of its two crew members, Russian Telegram channels 112 and SHOT, affiliated with state law enforcement agencies, reported on Nov. 13.

“Emergency services have been dispatched to the scene,” one the reports stated.

According to SHOT, the incident occurred over a forest near the Petrozavodsk airport. Later, the pro-government Telegram channel Fighterbomber, which has ties to senior figures in Russian military aviation, confirmed the crash of the Su-30SM aircraft in Karelia but did not initially verify the crew's deaths.

However, shortly after, Russia’s Defense Ministry confirmed the deaths of the Su-30 crew during a training flight in Karelia, as reported by state propaganda agency RIA Novosti.

On Nov. 7, a Ka-226 helicopter crashed into a residential cottage in Dagestan, resulting in four deaths. Later, Russian state media reported that one of the injured individuals died at the hospital, raising the death toll to five.

On Oct. 3, an Antonov An-2 aircraft crashed in Krasnoyarsk Krai. The plane went down near a military facility in the Yermakovsky District. According to Russian telegram channels, two people died.
