Russia captures Popiv Yar village in Donetsk Oblast, attempts advance toward Ivanivka

Russian invaders have occupied the village of Popiv Yar in Donetsk Oblast and are pushing to expand control near Nove Shakhove and advance toward Ivanivka, the Dnipro Operational-Strategic Group reported on Aug. 16.

In addition, in the Dobropillia sector, Russian occupation forces unsuccessfully attacked Ukrainian units near the settlements of Zatyshok, Rusyn Yar, Poltavka and Volodymyrivka.

Ukrainian forces are currently working to eliminate enemy troops.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine’s Defense Forces pushed back Russian troops near several settlements, including Zolotyi Kolodyaz.

Situation in Donetsk Oblast
The General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces said in its morning update on Aug. 15 that a total of 149 combat clashes took place along the front line in the past day. In the Novopavlivka sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 21 attacks. In the Pokrovsk sector, Russian forces carried out 53 assaults in a single day.

Earlier, the DeepState monitoring group reported multiple times on Russian advances near the administrative border of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, particularly near the village of Dachne.

On Aug. 10, the General Staff said Ukrainian forces still maintain control of Dachne in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

Before that, Ukraine’s military intelligence reported the elimination of Russian troops who had posed for photos in the village of Zelenyi Hai to boast about their advance toward Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
