Ukraine’s 25th Airborne Brigade, defending against invading Russian troops around Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast, confirmed to NV that enemy aviation dropped several glide bombs on May 8 — the first day of the purported three-day truce.

On other fronts, Russian forces continue firing and attempting to attack Ukrainian positions. The 33rd Mechanized Brigade defending the Novopavlivka sector in Zaporizhzhya Oblast reports continued enemy attacks.

In the brigade’s area of responsibility, Russian troops launched assaults and shelled defenses with nearly every major type of weaponry, including multiple-launch rocket systems.

According to the Kharkiv Operational-Tactical Group, as of 8 p.m. May 8, enemy forces launched at least five assaults in Kharkiv Oblast and shelled Ukrainian positions nearly 400 times along this section of the front. For security reasons, NV did not provide exact figures or additional details.

On April 28, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced a ceasefire that was to last three days — from midnight May 8 to midnight May 11. Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov described it as “the beginning of direct talks with Ukraine with no preconditions.”
