The Novopavlivsk front is one of the “hottest" as Russian occupiers deploy additional forces to seize the village of Novomykhailivka.
"There are more assaults there every day than near Avdiivka,” Lykhoviy said.
“There were 20 assaults near Avdiivka yesterday, and there were 30 near Novomykhailivka and its outskirts. But the defense stays strong, the enemy is making huge efforts, but has no success at all."
Ukrainian soldiers managed to stop the advance of the Russian invaders near Avdiivka, Lykhoviy said on March 4. The Russians partially control the villages of Berdychi and Tonenke at the same time.
The situation near Avdiivka is stabilizing, but the Russian army is having "local successes," Lykhoviy said.
Ukrainian forces withdrew from Avdiivka on Feb. 17 after four months of intense fighting and regular attacks by the Russian Federation, Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi announced at the time.
Ukraine withdrew from the village of Lastochkine on Feb. 26 to organize defense and prevent further advances by Russian forces, the Tavria Regional Military Command confirmed at the time.
Ukraine withdrew from the small villages of Severne and Stepove near Avdiivka, Lykhoviy announced on Feb. 27.
Ukraine’s Armed Forces managed to stabilize the defense line near the villages of Tonenke, Orlivka and Berdychi in Donetsk Oblast, Tavria Operational-Strategic Group commander Oleksandr Tarnavskyi said.
The Third Assault Brigade regained control of the village of Krasnohorivka in Donetsk Oblast on Feb. 28 after Russia attacked and entered the southeastern part of the settlement.
"Miscalculations in situation awareness and enemy assessment by some commanders have impacted the resilience of our defense on certain fronts," Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi wrote on Feb. 29.
