The Russian army is suffering “massive losses” in Ukraine,
totaling about 65,000 soldiers over the past two months, Rutte said during a
roundtable with the media. He added that NATO has sufficient forces to deter a near-term
Russian attack.
He stressed that the alliance has enough strength to prevent
Russia from attempting to strike it.
“We will win every battle with Russia if it attacks us now,
and we must make sure that in two, four, six years the situation does not
change,” Rutte said.
On Feb. 10, Estonia’s Foreign Intelligence Service reported
that Russia does not intend to launch a military attack on NATO in 2026–2027
but will continue rebuilding its armed forces, fearing rearmament by the
European Union.
On Feb. 9, a report by the Munich Security Conference said
the era when Europe could prosper for decades under an American “security
umbrella” has definitively ended. At the same time, Russia may be preparing a
new war.
