The head of the Cherkasy Eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC), previously charged with inciting religious hatred, has been accused of anti-Ukrainian activities, Ukraine’s SBU security service announced on June 19.

According to law enforcement, despite previous charges against him, the priest continued to incite interfaith conflict among his flock in Ukraine.

The SBU said that the cleric, while under house arrest, actively managed several social media pages. He posted extremist content on the YouTube channel of the Cherkasy Eparchy of the ROC and its Facebook page.

“His video addresses were aimed at fostering interfaith enmity,” the statement said.

“This is the fifth charge against the metropolitan regarding his anti-Ukrainian activities.”
