SBU charges Russian generals for Borodyanka bombings / The New Voice of Ukraine

Ukraine’s SBU security service has indicted two Russian generals who were in command of airstrikes targeting apartment buildings in Borodyanka during the battles near Kyiv, SBU press service reported on March 4.

The SBU has leveled accusations against Colonel General Aleksandr Chaika, commander of Russia's Eastern Military District, and Lieutenant General Vladimir Kravchenko, commander of the 11th Army of the Aerospace Forces and Air Defense of the Russian Armed Forces.

Investigations reveal that, in early March 2022, Chaika directly ordered strikes on residential buildings in Borodyanka's center. Kravchenko deployed SU-34 fighter-bombers and SU-25 attack aircraft from the 303rd Mixed Aviation Division of Russia for this mission.

Law enforcement states that Russian aircraft dropped 500-kg high-explosive bombs on residential buildings, causing the death of over 30 locals, including a child, and destroying six high-rise buildings. Some victims remain unidentified, considered missing.

Based on the evidence, the Ukrainian authorities have charged both generals with violating the laws and customs of war combined with premeditated murder, with potential life imprisonment sentences.

Previously, the SBU announced suspicions against two Russian generals for ordering the mining of the "grain corridor."
