SBU drones strike major Russian defense plants Bazalt and Splav successfully

Ukrainian long-range drones targeted key Russian defense industry facilities overnight, striking deep into the rear of the aggressor state, NV sources reported on May 7.

According to the sources, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) hit the Bazalt plant in Krasnoarmiysk, Moscow Oblast — Russia’s primary manufacturer of weapons and ammunition for its armed forces. Local residents reported at least seven explosions followed by a large fire.

Another target was the Splav plant in Tula, the only enterprise in Russia responsible for the design and development of multiple launch rocket systems and associated munitions. The strike triggered heavy fires and dense smoke.

The drone attacks also forced Russian authorities to implement the Kover plan in Moscow Oblast, resulting in airport closures and mass flight cancellations, causing widespread transport disruptions.

"Unlike the Russians, who target civilian apartment buildings in peaceful cities, the SBU is working precisely against military facilities that enable Russia’s war of aggression," an NV source in Ukraine’s Defense Forces said. "Work to weaken Russia’s military potential will continue."

These strikes are part of a broader campaign. On April 5, SBU drones hit the Promsintez plant in Chapayevsk, Samara Oblast — a major producer of industrial explosives. At least 20 explosions were recorded at the site, and operations were halted.

On April 30, the Murom Instrument-Making Plant in Vladimir Oblast — a key supplier of ammunition ignition systems and components for the Russian Navy and Air Force — was also targeted by Ukrainian drones, according to NV’s sources in the special services.
