Ukraine’s
SBU Security Service has identified a “Deputy Prosecutor General” who
works for Russian proxy authorities in the non-government-controlled areas of
the Donbas, the SBU said a statement on Feb. 16.
Their investigation concluded that the suspect facilitated illegal arrests and detentions of Ukrainian citizens.
The woman in question was inventing fictitious charges to illegally detain pro-Ukrainian individuals, according to the SBU’s report. She allegedly joined the Russian proxy authorities in Luhansk in 2014, and was eventually promoted to become a “Deputy Prosecutor General.”
The security service has charged the woman in absentia with “violating the territorial integrity of Ukraine,” a crime that is punishable by up to ten years in prison.
The statement added that the suspect may be declared as wanted by the state in the near future.
