SBU is investigating Oleh Borsuk, who after fleeing to Russia, became the main developer of missile navigation for the Russian invaders

Ukrainian authorities have charged a 61-year-old man with high treason after he allegedly collaborated with Russia while working in Moscow.

The defendant, who previously headed a laboratory at a defense plant in Cherkasy Oblast, resigned in 2009 and moved to Russia. After relocating to Moscow, Borsuk agreed to become the deputy general director of the Navis design bureau, a key company within Russia’s military-industrial complex.

According to the Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), Borsuk managed the development of new and the modernization of existing GPS/GLONASS navigation systems for cruise and ballistic missiles in his role at Navis.

The SBU stated that under Borsuk's leadership, nearly 3,200 satellite blocks were manufactured in 2023, including systems for the Iskander operational-tactical missile systems. This equipment was later used by Russian forces to launch airstrikes against Ukraine's civilian infrastructure.

The guidance systems Borsuk worked on are also used in the Kh-101, Kh-59, and Kalibr missiles, which Russian forces have used to attack Ukrainian targets.

SBU investigators have informed Borsuk of the charges against him under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to high treason committed during martial law. Since Borsuk is currently in Russia, authorities are taking steps to bring him to justice for crimes against Ukraine.
