Serbian National Assembly Speaker and Serbian Progressive Party representative Ana Brnabic has proposed amending the country’s constitution to allow Aleksandar Vučić to run for president again.

Brnabic made the proposal during a visit to election-related sites in Belgrade, N1 reports.

Although parliamentary elections have not yet been formally called, Brnabic urged party supporters to back Vucic, N1 reported.

“We’re all going to vote, right? So after that, while Vučić is prime minister, we’ll change the constitution, and then he can become president again. There you go — we have a solution for everything,” she said.

Vučić’s second presidential term ends in 2027. Under Serbia’s constitution, he would then be barred from running again for president.

Vučić previously said Serbia’s parliamentary elections would be held on either Oct. 18 or Oct. 25.

In July 2026, Vučić said he would step down as head of state a few days after parliamentary elections were announced.
