Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz accused Iran of "crossing a red line" by firing missiles at civilian targets.
The Times of Israel previously reported that Israeli air defenses were activated to defend against incoming missiles.
According to reporters on the ground, between five and seven impacts were sees in the city after over a hundred of Iranian missiles were launched in two waves.
Seven people sustained “light to moderate” injuries in an Iranian strike that hit an area between Tel Aviv and Ramat Gan, head of Israel’s emergency medical services said.
Israeli police confirmed at least one impact in downtown Tel Aviv.
“The Israeli police recently received reports of munitions falling in a district of Tel Aviv,” the statement said.
“At this time there are no reports of injuries, although there has been property damage.”
By 10:27 p.m. Kyiv time, Israeli authorities announced that the attack has concluded and civilians can leave bomb shelters.
