Around 6:26 a.m., a Shahed drone struck Kharkiv's Osnovyanskyi district, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said. The extent of damage and casualties is still being assessed.
Around 4:54 a.m., a Russian strike set an apartment ablaze in a five-story building in Dnipro, injuring at least one person, regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha said. Several nearby buildings and vehicles were also damaged.
As of 6:16 a.m., the number of people injured in the Russian strike on Dnipro rose to two, Hanzha said. "One is a 21-year-old pregnant woman and the other is a 45-year-old man. Both received medical assistance on the scene," he said.
Despite a period of silence declared by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with strike drones and guided aerial bombs starting overnight into May 6, with explosions reported in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, Sumy, and Kryvyi Rih.
On the afternoon of May 6, Russian drones struck a kindergarten in Sumy, sparking a large fire. One woman was killed and two others were wounded in that attack. Rescue workers were forced to repeatedly halt operations at the site due to the threat of additional Russian strikes. A second body was later recovered.
