Shahed drones target energy and port infrastructure in Odesa and Izmail, fires erupt

Russian forces massively attacked Odesa with drones overnight into Dec. 26. A strike hit an infrastructure site, sparking a fire, city governor Serhiy Lysak reported on Telegram.

There were no casualties. Efforts to address the attack's fallout continue.

Regional governor Oleh Kiper clarified that Russia targeted energy and port infrastructure. Izmail and Odesa districts, as well as Odesa city itself, came under attack. Fires broke out from the strikes; administrative buildings, equipment and vehicles were damaged.

Power engineers are working to restore electricity in Odesa homes.

The city launched additional bus routes to replace electric transport for passenger service during peak hours, the military administration added.

Explosions rang out overnight in Odesa, Izmail and other regional settlements. The Air Force reported numerous strike UAVs from the Black Sea heading toward Odesa Oblast. Monitoring channels reported dozens of Shahed drones toward Odesa, Mayaky, and Izmail.

Russian forces have been striking Odesa Oblast almost nonstop for over two weeks, targeting energy and port infrastructure. On Dec. 25, Russians again hit regional ports and industrial facilities, killing one person and injuring two.
