Situation in Donetsk Oblast
On Jan. 10, Serhii Dobryak, head of the Pokrovsk City Military Administration, stated that the frontline was just a few kilometers from the city and that nearly all critical infrastructure had been destroyed.
By Jan. 12, Ukrainian military sources reported that Russian forces had adjusted their tactics in the Pokrovsk sector, attempting to bypass the city from the south and advance westward toward Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
On Feb. 2, reports emerged that an entire group of Russian soldiers—belonging to the 1437th Motor Rifle Regiment—had fled their positions near Pokrovsk.
Tregubov later stated on Feb. 6 that Russian forces had suffered 7,000 irrecoverable losses in the Pokrovsk sector in January alone—more than the total number of Russian casualties in the entire Second Chechen War.
On Feb. 10, analysts at DeepState reported that Ukrainian forces had regained lost positions in two locations in the Pokrovsk sector.
A day later, on Feb. 11, DeepState confirmed that Ukrainian forces had fully restored control over Pishchane in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk Oblast.
That same day, Ukraine’s 425th Separate Assault Regiment "Skala" posted a video on Telegram showing what was described as the clearing operation to eliminate remaining Russian forces in Pishchane.
On Feb. 14, President Zelenskyy said that the situation in the Pokrovsk sector had significantly improved recently.
On Feb. 16, the Khortytsia Operational-Strategic Troop Grouping reported that Ukrainian counterattacks on the Pokrovsk front had achieved success, liberating the village of Pishchane from Russian occupation.
British intelligence indicated that Russian forces near Pokrovsk were focused on disrupting Ukrainian logistical lines, resulting in significant losses for the Russian army.
On Feb. 17, DeepState reported that Russian forces had occupied the village of Sribne in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk Oblast.
