Situation in Ternopil Oblast critical after Russian strike — Regional Administration

Authorities managed to resolve several technical issues over the past day, ensuring the operation of critical and social infrastructure. Work continues to stabilize the situation by connecting to external grids from neighboring oblasts and utilizing alternative generation and cogeneration sources.

Additionally, Ternopiloblenergo was forced to implement electricity supply schedules, which will change depending on available energy resources.

“Ternopiloblenergo and community leaders have been tasked with jointly developing schedules to ensure the operation of critical infrastructure, including industrial facilities with continuous technological cycles. We ask everyone to conserve electricity for household use,” the statement read.

Russian strike on Ternopil, Nov. 26

On the evening and night of Nov. 26, Russia launched a massive drone attack on Ukraine. Explosions were heard in Kyiv and several oblasts, including Ternopil Oblast. The strike damaged the power grid in Ternopil, leaving parts of the city without electricity and halting trolleybus services.

According to Ukraine’s Air Force, Russia launched 188 drones, including Shaheds, and four Iskander missiles. Air defense forces shot down 76 drones.

Vyacheslav Negoda, head of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration, stated that the Russian strike damaged an energy infrastructure facility supplying electricity to the entire oblast.
