Ukraine has signed six agreements under its Drone Deal technology sharing framework, with 20 countries currently negotiating joining the initiative, National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) secretary Rustem Umerov said on July 2.

Umerov made the statement via Facebook. He said each agreement runs for 10 years and provides for export of production and technologies as well as broader defense cooperation.

He described the framework as including four main elements:

  • Ukrainian military advisers working in partner countries;
  • export of battle-tested defense solutions;
  • localization of military equipment production in partner countries;
  • special joint ventures such as cybersecurity cooperation, protection of critical infrastructure, and satellite projects.

To speed up implementation, a Fast Track procedure was recently adopted for the Drone Deal, Umerov added. The change shortens the review period for export license applications from 90 days to 30 days for goods that are not on the list of critical products.
