"Starshield technology is vital for Ukraine, and we are sincerely grateful to the U.S. side for the opportunity to have it," the diplomat said.
According to Sienik, the situation has improved compared with previous days, but the system's speed continues to fluctuate. Kyiv is waiting for the American side to clarify whether the problem has been eliminated and the service fully restored.
The official stressed that stable operation of satellite technology is necessary for Ukraine to protect its population and counter Russian attacks.
Sienik also said Ukraine has wanted the war to end from the start and is ready for various ceasefire formats, including on energy infrastructure, the Black Sea, or a general truce.
Restrictions on Starlink in Ukraine
On the morning of Oct. 14, it was reported that Starlink speeds had been restricted, which disrupted a number of important military missions. The restriction concerns the Starshield package used by Ukrainian troops.
Soldiers and experts reported communication outages and a possible effect on the work of interceptor drones. A source in Ukraine's Defense Ministry later told NV that communication is restricted at speeds above 160 kph (about 100 mph).
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to Elon Musk and called the slowdown of Starlink a "big mistake."
On Oct. 14, Musk said the speed restrictions on the military Starshield package depend not on his company but on the U.S. government. Reuters, for its part, reported that the order to reduce communication speeds came from the White House.
The communication problems coincided with pressure on Kyiv from the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump over strikes on Russian oil refineries. According to media reports, Washington threatened to stop sharing intelligence.
