A massive fire destroyed the Strela factory, a producer of transformers, in Bryansk’s Suzemka district on May 4, with Russian officials alleging an attack by Ukrainian forces using Grad rocket systems, local authorities reported.

Russian propagandists, citing local officials, claimed Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck the Strela factory, causing a blaze that razed production and administrative buildings.

Bryansk Governor Alexander Bogomaz stated, “A fire broke out, and production and administrative buildings were destroyed. There are no casualties,” according to his statement.

This marks at least the third attack on the facility, following strikes in November 2024 and December 2023.

The Strela factory specializes in manufacturing transformers, chokes, and autotransformers, and its partners include “leading enterprises in the defense, aerospace, electrical engineering, and electronics industries, as well as research institutes”.

Russian authorities provided no further details on the extent of the damage or operational impact.
