Ruslan Stefanchuk, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, dismissed Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s conditions for peace talks as “suicide” for Ukraine in a Facebook post on June 14.

“Ukraine needs a full, fair and sustainable peace,” he said.

“Otherwise, peace in exchange for territory is annexation. Peace in exchange for sovereignty is surrender. Peace in exchange for people is slavery. Peace in exchange for non-aligned status is suicide. Peace in exchange for a frozen conflict is shifting this war onto the shoulders of our children and grandchildren.”

It is for these reasons that the full implementation of the Peace Formula of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is important, Stefanchuk stated.

“The formula is a formula because it must have all the components,” the Ukrainian parliament speaker said.

“And it is Ukraine, which is suffering from this aggression, that has a fair right to determine the parts of this formula.”

He also noted that Ukraine will take the first step towards the implementation of the Peace Formula on June 15, together with a hundred like-minded countries, at the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland.

Vladimir Putin’s conditions for peace talks

Ahead of the peace summit in Switzerland on June 14, to which Russia was not invited, Putin announced his “conditions” for ending the war against Ukraine. He fantasized that in order to end the fighting, Ukraine should “withdraw its troops” from the territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhya oblasts within the administrative borders. He also demanded that Ukraine refuse to join NATO.

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry said that Putin’s attempts to portray himself as a “peacemaker” and offer “options” for ending the war he has unleashed are absurd. They stated that all the ultimatums voiced by Putin have been heard many times before from Moscow, and there is nothing new in these statements.

Zelenskyy called Russian dictator Putin’s new manipulative statements about ending the war an ultimatum and pointed out that he was reviving Nazism.
