The Biden administration is counting on the
U.S. House of Representatives to pass the aid package that includes over $60
billion for Ukraine and has already been supported by the Senate, U.S.
National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said during an unannounced visit to
Kyiv on March 20.
“Our expectation is for bipartisan support in Congress, and that ultimately, we will secure the package voted on by the Senate,” said Sullivan.
“So, I don't think we need to talk about a ‘Plan B.”
At the same time, the official did not provide a concrete date by which the White House expects the House to pass the aid bill. U.S. President Joe Biden “is doing everything” in his power to compel the Congress to approve the aid package, Sullivan added.
Currently, the package which includes additional aid for Ukraine, Taiwan, and Israel is awaiting a vote in the House of Representatives, blocked by Speaker Mike Johnson.
