A Russian agent suspected of guiding Russian missile and drone strikes against military facilities in western Ukraine was detained in Khmelnytskyi Oblast, the Security Service (SBU) reported on Telegram on Sept. 29.
The suspect, a local handyman, came to the attention of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) while seeking "easy money" through Telegram channels.
He gathered information on military sites, conducted reconnaissance, photographed facilities, and marked coordinates on online maps for potential attacks.
The SBU apprehended the man while he was attempting to record a video near a target site and seized his smartphone, which contained evidence of his activities.
He has been charged with high treason under Part 2 of Article 111 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code and faces life imprisonment with property confiscation.
