In Kyiv's Darnytskyi district on Dec. 11, explosions killed a National Guard member who was patrolling the area with a colleague.
Kyiv prosecutors said a homemade explosive device detonated. According to channel Kyiv24, the incident occurred on Revutskoho Street.
On Dec. 12, Ukraine's SBU Security Service and National Police reported detaining three suspects — natives of the Odesa and Donetsk oblasts aged 23, 27 and 25 — on suspicion of committing the terrorist act in the Darnytskyi district.
According to investigators, Russian special services recruited them and tasked them with carrying out a terrorist attack.
After making a homemade explosive, the suspects placed it at coordinates given by their Russian handler. The perpetrators also set up mobile phones near the site that transmitted video to the enemy online.
The SBU said both explosions occurred in an industrial zone patrolled by National Guard of Ukraine personnel.
On Dec. 26, an explosion occurred in a passenger bus in Kyiv's Podilskyi district.
National Police clarified that no one was injured — the bus was at its final stop without passengers, and the blast happened shortly after the driver started moving.
