Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina (WTA 27) triumphed over American Caroline Dolehide (83) 6-1, 6-4 in the second round of the 2025 Australian Open in Melbourne on Jan. 16.
In a dominant performance, Svitolina allowed Dolehide to win just one game in the first set. The American fought back in the second set, but lost her serve once, allowing Svitolina to take the set 6-4.
Svitolina advanced to the third round, where she will play the winner of the match between Mexican Renata Zarazua and Italian Jasmine Paolini.
This is Svitolina's twelfth appearance in the main draw at the Australian Open and her tenth third-round appearance of her career. She reached the quarterfinals of the tournament in 2018 and 2019.
