Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has submitted Yulia Svyrydenko's candidacy for a vote in Parliament as the country's new Prime Minister, MP Oleksandr Kachura from the ruling Servant of the People party announced on Telegram late on July 16.
Svyrydenko currently holds the posts of First Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister.
Earlier that day, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Denys Shmyhal from the position of prime minister in a sweeping overhaul of Ukraine’s cabinet. Shmyhal is expected to become the next defense minister, replacing Rustem Umerov.
Shmyhal had served as Ukraine’s prime minister since March 4, 2020, which was the longest tenure for anyone in the position.
