Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio at NATO HQ in Brussels, Belgium, on April 3.

Sybiha reaffirmed Ukraine’s firm commitment to peace.

“We welcome the leadership of the United States on this matter,” said the minister.

“Ukraine is fully dedicated to peace and has taken concrete, unconditional steps to achieve it, while Russia continues to stall.”

He also briefed Rubio on Russia’s recent breaches of the so-called “energy ceasefire” and confirmed Ukraine’s interest in developing mutually beneficial investment and mining cooperation with the United States—a move he described as a “solid foundation for deepening the bilateral partnership.” The two officials discussed plans for further Ukraine-U.S. contacts.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry stated that the U.S.-brokered halt on attacks on Russian and Ukrainian energy infrastructure has been in effect since March 25. Since then, there have been several documented violations of the partial ceasefire by Russia, with drones and missiles striking Ukraine’s natural gas and electricity facilities.
