Sybiha and Orban (no relation to former PM Viktor Orban) met in Helsingborg during an informal gathering of NATO foreign ministers that also included a session of the Ukraine
“We do not hide behind diplomatic words, nor do we sugarcoat reality; we call things by their proper names,” Sybiha told reporters en route to Kyiv.
He said Ukraine “understands Hungary’s concerns” about the rights of national minorities in Zakarpattia and that another round of talks between the two countries’ foreign ministers is planned for next week.
A meeting date between Hungary’s new prime minister, Peter Magyar, and Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has not been set.
“We will determine the date and time based on the work of our negotiating teams, which are already in place on both sides,” Sybiha said.
During a visit to Warsaw on May 20, Magyar said he
hoped to meet Zelenskyy in Berehove, Zakarpattia Oblast, in early June.
