Through European
mediation, Kyiv is prepared to explore negotiating a variety of partial
ceasefire models with Russia, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on the
sidelines of the Ukraine‑Africa forum on May 26.
The minister mentioned some of the options involving restrictions on targeting energy or transportation infrastructure.
“That could be an ‘airport’ truce, it could be an ‘energy’ truce, it could be a ‘port’ truce,” Sybiha said.
“Let’s choose one direction, one case, and try to resolve it within a clearly defined time frame.”
He said the issue would be discussed the next day with EU
foreign ministers but would also need to be “talked through with the Russian
side.” Sybiha said Ukraine’s negotiating approach is to prioritize a single
matter and resolve it before moving to broader peace terms.
