Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi spoke by
phone with Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), USAF General Alexus
Grynkewich, for this first time since Grynkewich’s appointment.
In a Telegram post on July 16, Syrskyi said the discussion was held “in the spirit of true partnership.” He added that he received solid commitments for support from both the United States and NATO as a whole.
“After [U.S.] President [Donald] Trump’s and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte’s recent announcement of a new arms package for Ukraine, we face an intensive phase of cooperation in the coming months,” Syrskyi stated.
Grynkewich became SACEUR and United States European Command (EUCOM) on July 4, replacing Gen. Christopher Cavoli.
During his congressional confirmation hearing on June 24, Grynkewich said Ukraine can still win the war of Russian aggression.
