Syrskyi wrote on his Facebook page that the toughest spot is the Pokrovsk direction, Donetsk Oblast, where Russia has concentrated about 106,000 troops. He said Russian activity is also high around Ocheretyne, Oleksandrivka, Kupiansk, and Kostiantynivka, and in areas along the Russian border.
"Units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine are disrupting the enemy’s plans, holding lines firmly and, when conditions allow, mounting their own active operations," Syrskyi wrote. He added that despite constant enemy pressure, Ukrainian forces continue to carry out missions on Russian soil and that "our presence in Russia’s Kursk Oblast remains."
Syrskyi said the key to success is active defense and battlefield initiative, which he said exhaust Russian forces, allow Ukrainian forces to restore positions and inflict maximum losses. He said the Russian army is suffering no fewer than 1,000 casualties each day.
He said combined fire support carried out more than 64,900 fire missions over the past month. Ukrainian artillery struck some 8,500 Russian targets during that period, and missile units launched 74 strikes.
Syrskyi said the Defense Forces are increasing missile and drone pressure on Russia, prioritizing targets involved in oil refining and fuel transport, special-chemicals and propellant production, and other defense-industry facilities.
"In April alone, Deep Strike assets struck 84 targets deep inside enemy territory. This is the result of high-quality coordination and interaction among all components of the Defense Forces," he said.
The general said international military-technical assistance
increased in April, adding that Ukraine’s own capabilities remain decisive.
