The Netherlands to pay 100 million euros to purchase shells for Ukraine’s military

"First of all, it is important to fulfill what was promised, and to see what else can be done,” Rutte wrote on X.

“That is why the Netherlands is allocating more than 100 million euros to the Czech initiative to quickly supply hundreds of thousands of artillery shells to Ukraine."

“Russia is preparing for a long war — Ukraine’s allies must continue to show ‘unwavering’ support,” he said.

"This is why the Netherlands is concluding a security agreement with Ukraine to continue supporting the country for at least the next 10 years,” Rutte said.

“To guarantee the future security of Ukraine and the Netherlands.”

Czechia found hundreds of thousands of artillery munitions abroad that could be transferred to Ukraine if other countries help with funding, President Petr Pavel said during the Munich Security Conference on Feb.17.

The €100 million would be enough money for the 800 thousand shells that the Czech president had talked about, Ukrainian Presidential Office said on Feb. 23.

The EU will only supply Ukraine with 52% of the 1 million artillery shells promised by March 2024, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said on Jan. 31, adding that they will only be able to fulfil the commitment by Winter 2024.
