The men were taken into custody at their homes in west and central London, where officers also searched those addresses and a third residence, the Metropolitan Police said.
Dominic Murphy, commander of London’s Counter-Terrorism Policing, said the number of agents recruited by foreign spy services is rising and that these arrests are directly linked to efforts to disrupt such activity.
Previously, UK courts sentenced six men for 2024 arson attacks on businesses linked to Ukraine. Prosecutors said the attacks were carried out on orders from Russia’s Wagner Group private military company.
Earlier this week, Polish media reported the uncovering of a conspiracy tied to Russian intelligence. Prosecutors in Poland opened an investigation into a sabotage group accused of plotting terror attacks against Poland and other European Union allies.
Polish authorities arrested 21-year-old Ukrainian national Danylo H., who lived near Warsaw and worked in a warehouse.
Simultaneously, Romanian authorities detained two other Ukrainian nationals who allegedly collaborated with Danylo H. A Bucharest court ordered them held for 30 days.
Romanian intelligence later said the suspects planned to set fire to Nova Poshta (Ukrainian private mail operator) offices in Bucharest.
