A Ukrainian delegation has arrived in Geneva to participate in the next round of trilateral peace talks with the U.S. and Russia, the press service of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council reported on Feb.17, according to the Ukrinform news agency.

The meeting is scheduled to begin around noon.

Ahead of the negotiations, Dmitriy Peskov, press secretary to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, announced that Vladimir Medinsky would lead the Russian delegation.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy views the downgrading of the Kremlin’s delegation as an indication that Moscow intends to delay the peace process and postpone making important decisions. At the previous Abu Dhabi talks, the Russian delegation was led by GRU chief Igor Kostyukov.

Earlier, sources cited by CNN journalist Haley Britsky reported that US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll and NATO General Alexus Grinkevich had also arrived in Geneva to participate in the trilateral discussions.
