U.S. President-elect Donald Trump is expected to appoint a special envoy to lead negotiations aimed at ending the war between Russia and Ukraine, Fox News reported on Nov. 13, citing sources.

According to one source, this individual will be "a person of great authority," tasked with finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

From 2017 to 2019, when Trump was first in the White House, Kurt Volker served as the U.S. special envoy for Ukraine on a voluntary basis.

Ukrainian newspaper ZN.UA later reported that Trump is likely to tap Brian Hook to lead the negotiations. Hook is a U.S. diplomat, who was the special envoy on Iran (2018-2020) and senior policy adviser to former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
