U.S. President Donald Trump suggested for the first time that "some form of peacekeeping" force would be part of an agreement to end the war in Ukraine, the Voice of America reported on Feb. 26.

"You're going to need some form of peacekeeping. So something will be done that's going to be satisfactory to everybody. We need peacekeeping, too," he told reporters from the Oval Office, adding that security guarantees for Ukraine after the war ends are still being discussed.

Earlier French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer coordinated their actions to influence Trump’s plan to end the war and deliver a unified message during their visits to Washington this week, urging Trump to abandon bilateral peace talks with Russia and support European commitments to guarantee Ukraine's security in the future.

Starmer is expected to present Trump with an Anglo-French plan to deploy some 30,000 European peacekeepers to Ukraine during his visit to the US on Feb. 27.
