The Russo-Ukrainian war could end in the coming months, Keith Kellogg, recently tapped to be the U.S. special envoy on Ukraine, said on Dec. 13.

In an interview with Fox Business, Kellogg was asked whether negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy might take place in Washington.

“I wouldn't be surprised if President [-elect Donald] Trump takes such a bold step,” he said.

“I believe this [the war between Russia and Ukraine] will be resolved in the next few months because the only person who can do this is Donald Trump.”

He also believes that under Trump's presidency, anything is possible, as Trump "thinks outside the box" and "plays three-dimensional chess."

Kellogg was also asked if he plans to visit Ukraine and Russia.

“We are preparing some plans to hear [from all sides] ...,” he replied.

“We plan to do this in the near future so that we have details to present to President Trump, so he can decide what to do.”
